Rain drops beat
Incessantly on the
Roof of their umbrella
In a fit of jealousy.
Puddles of water
Conspired with mud
In futility as they
Barely noticed the splotches.
The sound of their
Laughter rose up and
Drowned out the clap
Of thunder.
The clouds hurried
Along looking rather
Embarrassed,
The two lovebirds had
Stolen their thunder.
